Will you walk with me?

I’m ashamed to ask, but so weary of the company of my own thoughts that I’ll ask again.

Will you walk with me?

No, not relieve the burden of mind,

I did not ask you to bear the weight of my head on your shoulders.

No, let my feet stay on the ground, I did not asked to be carried.

I did not ask for a crutch, or a chair. I did not ask for a carriage or a drink of water. I did not say “let us pause for a while.” I did not ask for your map or your compass.

I asked you to walk with me,

so that as I travel this road I am not alone.
